Lesson Title: Global Warming Research Project Day 1

State Standards: GLEs/GSEs

PS1 (7-8) – 4 Students demonstrate an understanding of states of matter by …explaining the effect of increased and decreased heat energy on the motion and arrangement of molecules.
PS2 (7-8) – 7 Students demonstrate an understanding of heat energy by…explaining the difference among conduction, convection and radiation and creating a diagram to explain how heat energy travels in different directions and through different materials by each of these methods.

Context of Lesson:

This is the part of the unit where the students get to convey what they learned to the class. Each student or groups of students will give a five minute presentation on their project

Opportunities to Learn:

Materials:

  • Project Rubric

Depth of Knowledge:

Level 3 (Strategic Thinking)

Objectives:

  • Students will research and explain the concepts of global warming from their research to an 80% proficiency.

Instruction:

Introductory Activity (3 min):
The class will start with students picking raffle numbers out of a bowl. This will determine there order of presentation.

Main Activity (42 min):
Students will present their projects.

Closing Activity (5 min):
